A long time runner/jogger, I was delighted to discover this one. Light-hearted it is, though too short. I like to see the author turn it into a longer work which includes the many other types on the running trail. But the narrative was easy to follow and there is much to be recognized here. In the end, the narrator becomes another cheerleader for this wondrous running habit of ours. This is for readers of Haruki Murakami's WHAT I TALK ABOUT WHEN I TALK ABOUT RUNNING (https://www.amazon.com/What-About-Running-Vintage-International-ebook/dp/B0015DWJ8W/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1475447154&sr=1-1&keywords=what+it+talk+about+when+i+talk+about+running) and Joyce Carol Oates' essay on WRITING AND RUNNING..

The Savage Ponytail edition by Malcolm Costain Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Loved it! I know all the people he has met and had the same internal conversations. Would love to read more
As a jogger myself, i found this book to be very relate-able and quite a fun quick read.
I so enjoyed reading this! If you are an adult and you run, you can relate. Unless maybe if you are one of those superhuman few.
Very funny book. I read a chapter each night before bed and turned the light out with a smile on my face every time. Well written - and I'm pleased to know that I'm not the only one who has these conversations in my head! Loved the insouciant poly tail and the insufferable child.
For anyone who jogs this is a must read, if nothing else it makes you more observant when you are out of the track. I run the busy bowen track in Hong Kong every day and while I love the insouciant pony tail, my blood boils at the expectorator , every day you think "was that dream lover who passed me", her scent lingers long enough to crave the next lap. I will be sending Malcolm my observations from the track
Slightly amusing, but mostly just judgmental observations of someone who seems to be way too much into having his own running experience alone.
A terrific read that all joggers, runners, striders and waddlers will enjoy. The description of the meditation of jogging; the simple pleasure of putting one foot in front of the other in the search for inner calm and the possibility of losing a few pounds is first-class. All of us have crossed swords with the Intolerable Leapfrogger, The Impassable and the other incarnations inhabiting Mr Costain’s track. I am looking forward to seeing more of Costain’s observations about these and other characters in the future.
